Xedavir, launched by Xeda Italia, is a natural fungicide based on Trichoderma asperellum, a micro-organism that lives in the soil and is used to control many soil-borne pathogens, such as Pythium spp., Phytophthora capsici, Rhizoctonia spp. and Verticillium spp.
What distinguishes the TV1 strain is that, once applied, it shows rapid growth and diffusion in the surrounding environment, even in conditions of highly variable pH, salinity and temperature. Conidia and chlamydospores are also widely produced, due to their ability to quickly colonize substrates.
Therefore, Xedavir is highly effective against pathogens, defending not only the root systems of crops, but also combating other soil organisms.
Xedavir does not require a safety interval or re-application on the field and is, therefore, an environmentally-friendly solution that can be used in organic farming and integrated pest management. It is not only effective against pathogens, but also crop selective. The product can be applied on different types of soils and crops, including sports fields, making it a valid tool for horticulturists.
The chemical pesticides are still widely used on many crops, especially in the early stages of plant growth. But the usefulness of products, such as Xedavir, in guaranteeing protection over subsequent plant growth stages and their residual advantages are also recognized. For this reason and due to the shortness of the crop cycle, the product is effective on all high-value horticultural crops, especially products packaged and ready for consumption.
It is possible to use Xedavir on all horticultural, floral, officinal and ornamental crops without any risk of phytotoxicity. The application of the product is preventive during pre-sowing or pre-transplanting, or in sowing and transplanting. In consideration of climate conditions and the term of the culture (eg whether medium-long), it is possible to repeat treatment to improve the colonizing action obtained after the first application.
Xedavir can be used in organic agriculture and integrated defense programs. Its TV1 strain is 100% non-genetically modified.
